This year’s Youth Pledge Day, October 28 celebration at Budi Utama School was extra special this year. Thanks to the visit from teachers and students of St. Hilda’s Secondary School Singapore. After meeting online before, this visit gave everyone a great chance to meet in person, build friendships, and learn more about each other’s cultures.

Students from Budi Utama wore beautiful traditional clothes costumes, while the guests from St. Hilda’s Secondary School showed off their own traditional outfits. The event started with warm speeches, followed by a ceremony with a short theater performance about Indonesia’s fight for independence, making the day even more meaningful.

After the ceremony, everyone joined a fun walk around the school. Along the way, students from both schools chatted and enjoyed each other’s company. Later, they took part in activities where the guests learned to play traditional Indonesian instruments, write Javanese calligraphy, and play games like congklak, engklek, and lompat tali.

In a special workshop, students from St. Hilda’s Secondary School also made puppets from straw and tried playing the gamelan with help from their Budi Utama friends. These activities not only taught new skills but also built teamwork and understanding between the students.

This exchange was a fun way to learn through shared experiences and showed how people from different backgrounds can connect and work together. The partnership between Budi Utama and St. Hilda’s Secondary School created happy memories and strengthened friendships across cultures.

In the end, let’s keep celebrating friendship and diversity!
